Feelings as Creative Force Workshop

Nairobi

Docubox, in partnership with the African Film and Media Arts Collective and NBOFilmFest, invites African Filmmakers & Media Artists to apply for a 5-day intensive workshop in Nairobi titled ‘Feelings as Creative Force’. Led by award-winning filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu and multidisciplinary artist Jim Chuchu, the workshop will explore emotion as a powerful material and methodology in film & media arts. Participants will engage in collective rituals, reflection, screenings, and hands-on creation to discover new ways of integrating feeling into their artistic practice. This workshop is designed for professional or intermediate creatives in film, music, design, fine art, or related fields, particularly those interested in interdisciplinary approaches and using art for social change and transformation. Successful applicants will be notified by October 7, and those based outside Nairobi will receive a one-time mobility stipend to cover travel for the duration of the workshop. The application deadline is September 23, 2025.

“Jogoo Wa Shamba Wawika Mjini” hit different. It nailed the shags-meets-city vibe installations that make you think about where you’re from vs where you are. Layers, textures, and real cultural depth. Worth the visit if you appreciate art that speaks to the Kenyan experience. Highly recommend! 🎨
