Nairobi Dance Festival
The Nairobi Dance Project
NAIROBI HAS ALWAYS DANCED. 🇰🇪 Long before Salsa, Kizomba, Bachata and Afro found their place in Nairobi’s social dance scene, this city was already moving. From the dance halls of Ngara and Pumwani to railway clubs, community halls, weddings, church socials and neighbourhood gatherings, Nairobi has always found a reason to dance.
Introducing THE NAIROBI DANCE FESTIVAL.
A one-day immersive cultural experience tracing over a century of Nairobi’s social dance story, from the colonial era to the vibrant dance communities of today.

This isn’t just a dance festival. It’s a celebration of Nairobi’s people, culture, memory and rhythms.
Because Nairobi’s history isn’t only in books, buildings and photographs.
It lives in our movement.
Nairobi danced then.
Nairobi dances now.
And the story continues with us.
