Turn discarded fabric into a wearable that lights up and responds to touch. Beginner-friendly—no electronics or coding experience needed.
What if you could give discarded fabric a second life? In this hands-on beginner workshop, participants will turn reclaimed fabric into a personal interactive wearable object, learning a new and unconventional way to think about circuits beyond traditional wires. The session introduces the foundations of wearable technology through fashion, electronics and sustainability – showing how discarded textiles are still beautiful and can become expressive objects that light up, respond to human engagement and carry even more meaning. No experience with electronics, coding or wearable tech needed.
Want to go further? We’ll be showing how you can also link your piece to an online story, profile or portfolio using NFC technology. An NFC-enabled smartphone is helpful if you’d like to try it, but it’s not essential.
